Yooka-Laylee: New Info about the Spiritual Successor of Banjo-Kazooie

It’s been a year since the Yooka-Laylee Kickstarter, and now the Banjo-Kazooie inspired 3D platformer is back in the spotlight. Playtonic Games have just revealed on their website a bunch of new screenshots, a peek at their roster of colourful characters, and the news that we can expect to see Yooka-Laylee on display at the E3 expo later this year.

The finished game will see our two protagonists leaping and smashing their way through colourful worlds, collecting ‘Pagies’ to unlock levels and thwarting the devious Capital B who intends to make a tidy profit by absorbing the world’s literature. Aside from numerous shiny collectables, Playtonic Games have also promised secrets galore and the intention of creating a character cast that lasts beyond this initial title release.

Though the development team is not ready to set an official release date for the first outing of the lizard and bat duo, they are still aiming for October this year. In the meantime, a hands on experience called ‘Toybox’ will be available in July for the Kickstarter backers of the game. According to Playtonic, the Toybox is not a traditional demo. Rather it will offer a separate, spoiler free sandbox experience for players to enjoy and get familiar with Yooka-Laylee’s gameplay.

Here’s hoping we’ll see the game released later this year, but we have plenty of upcoming content and promised news updates to look forward to in the meantime. If you want to read up on all the details about the game in length, you can visit the Playtonic website.
