Dragon Ball Super Crappy

Dragon Ball Super just set a new low for animation standards – Join me as we take a screen-capped stroll through the absolute shitshow that was Dragon Ball Super episode 5!

These are all real screencaps from a real episode of Dragon Ball Super. For real. This is Goku fighting God of Destruction Beerus for the very first time, and it looks like Toei Animation, who previously copped a serve for their ridiculously off-model characters in Sailor Moon Crystal are at it again.

Goku does his best Depressed Rock-em Sock-em Robot impression.

I think he’s hip-hop dancing here maybe.

Bad Fanart Cloud Strife tags in for this one punch.

Sorry Goku. Not even going Super Saiyan 3 can save you from this bullshit.

vlcsnap-2015-08-11-18h46m59s558

Where is the other half of his face? Nobody knows.

That’s all I could bring myself to cap before my brain crawled out my ear and died. Throughout all the years and all its various forms Dragon Ball has had it’s fair share of less-than-stellar moments of animation, but this absolutely takes the cake in an age where animation should look better than ever. It’s only like THE biggest anime franchise of all time, and this is the quality of art and animation they serve up? After a fun and promising first episode, Dragon Ball Super has been on a steady decline. Turning into a retelling of a recent movie certainly hasn’t helped that, but if this is the kind of absolute shit they’re putting to air just five episodes in I fear we may be watching stick figures crudely drawn on stained napkins by episode ten. No other show I can think of has dropped the ball this hard.

Step it up, Toei. I JUST watched Resurrection F, and while I don’t expect that level of cinematic quality from a TV anime we all know you can do a lot better than this miserable heap.
