Phoenix Wright Anime: Japanese Trailer and April Release

This April, Capcom’s much beloved and quirky Phoenix Wright video game series (known as Gyakuten Saiban in Japan) is moving from the handheld console to television screens as an animated series. It was announced last year at the 2015 Tokyo Game Show that an adaptation was in the works for the court room puzzle game. But with the drop of a first trailer, the once unlikely dream of seeing Phoenix, Maya and the countless other ensemble characters in their fully animated glory is nearing closer to reality.

Though the Japanese trailer only lasts a precious thirty seconds, it’s enough to make you want to break out the DS and tackle some tricky court cases while waiting out the next few weeks. Or, for those who would rather skip the game-play altogether, catch up with the series by watching the 2012 Japanese live action adaptation.

So, get ready to extend your arm, point and shout (but hopefully, not in objection) for the Japanese premiere on the 2nd of April. If the series stays true to the passion and humour of the games, fans and newcomers alike are in for a treat!
