Saturday Fanart Feature: Picolo-Kun

From black on white sketchy doodles, to beautifully coloured finished pieces there are so many wonderfully intricate artworks in Picolo-kun’s gallery you won’t know where to start. There is such special attention paid to detail so if you pass over an image, come back to it later on and guaranteed you will spot something, some small detail you didn’t notice and the whole artwork changes to something new again. It is not very often you get an artist who sets a goal, and devotes themselves wholly to completing it, and cranking out a doodle a day for a whole year (2014) is nothing short of inspirational. It might not sound like much, but for everyone else who aims to draw and develop their art further can recognize the struggles of completing something of this scale, not just having enough time, but investing emotionally as well as improving with every little doodle.

My name is Gabriel Picolo, I’m a 21 years old traditional/digital artist based in Brazil. You probably know me from my 365 Days of doodles that became viral in 2014,a project in which I drew 1 doodle a day, for the whole year. I draw since I was a kid but never took it very seriously until a year ago. For my drawings I take inspiration from Studio Ghibli, Disney, video games among other stuff. I love to draw something that is relatable to me and other people as well. It may be a complex doodle about feelings or an eye candy fan art but what I love the most is the connection I create with who’s seeing my work.
