The third installment of the new Initial D Legends Saga has just been announced. It’s titled Initial D the Movie Legend 3: Half Awake, Half Asleep and it will be the third and final film in the trilogy. The movie is set to premiere in Japan on February 6th 2016 and the first promotional images have been released (see below).
For those of you who aren’t familiar with the new Initial D Legends trilogy, it’s basically a reboot or retelling of the first arc of Shuuichi Shigeno‘s Initial D manga.
The basic storyline is as follows:
High school student Takumi Fujiwara works as a gas station attendant during the day and a delivery boy for his fathers tofu shop at night. Little does he know that his precise driving skills and his father’s modified Toyota Sprinter AE86 Trueno make him the best amateur road racer on Mt. Akina’s highway. Because of this, racing groups from all over the Gunma prefecture issue challenges to Takumi to see if he really has what it takes to be a road legend.
