Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans Announced

On July 15th a press conference was held in Tokyo to announce the fourteenth installment in the ongoing Gundam series: Mobile Suit Gundam IRON-BLOODED ORPHANS, which will begin airing in Japan on October 4th. Hit the full article to watch the announcement video!

Set 300 years after an event known as known as the Calamity War and featuring a young band of fighters who take possession of an incomplete mobile suit, the Gundam Barbatos, which they use to fight and upgrade with components from fallen enemy mobile suits.

Additionally, High Grade 1/144 scale model kits of the Gundam Barbatos and Graze mobile suits were unveiled, along with a Master Grade 1/100 Barbatos. I’m digging the look of the incomplete Barbatos, and the hinted upgrades mean we’ll likely see other versions, much like the Gundam AGE kits and add-on packs similar to the HG Build Custom parts for the Gundam Build Fighters range.

  1. Fourteenth installment hey, I have been wanting to start watching Gundam for a while because it looks like a really awesome series…..but it will take me a loooong time to catch up 🙁
Do the storylines actually follow into one another through each season or are they completely separate?

    1. It’s an absolute nightmare to catch up on – I’m a latecomer to the franchise too ;-; There are a heap of different timelines though, so some series do stand alone. I enjoyed the first arc of Gundam AGE a lot for that reason, easy to jump into with no assumed knowledge.

The main/largest timeline, Universal Century is so vast it’s almost impossible to catch up at this point, but I’ll be damned if Gundam Unicorn isn’t absolutely amazing even if it is confusing as hell for a noob.
